Just left Dockside after a great meal!! I had the Swordfish & it was awesome. Other members of our party had various seafood items, steak, & chicken. No one had anything bad to say!!! Nuff said!!!!!

Been wanting to eat here for months. Finally found it. The treasure of Port Royal, tucked away on 11th St. I ate alone so my wait for a table wasn't terrible. Gorgeous views of the river from this restaurant. Busy, but not enough to make you want to go elsewhere. I started with the Buffalo shrimp with Vidalia coleslaw. Stellar. Amazing. Holy cow! Shrimp were perfect and the slaw was so good. For dinner I had the broiled seafood plate. The plate arrived hot and looked delicious. However, the scallops were the most flavorful thing on the plate; a bunch of seasons were sprinkled all over the food (jumbo shrimp, flounder, deviled crab), but the overall flavor was bland. I wonder if I should have ordered fried food instead. I also had a side salad with Greek vinegarette. Service was great and speedy. Atmosphere was lovely. I feel next time, I won't be ordering the broiled seafood platter.

This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Beaufort! Dockside is great for families with small kids, couples looking for a great night out and large groups! Their coconut shrimp appetizer is the best and I love their seafood pasta. Have not eaten anything I didn't love here in all of my years of coming! Would recommend this place to anyone & everyone! And the view is absolutely perfect!

Good seafood place in a little town. Right on the water with indoor or outdoor seating. Food is very fresh. The only thing I would have liked is a bigger selection but the cornbread they bring out is the best I've ever had.

This was my first visit to Beaufort and the Sea Islands. I live in Burlington, Vermont and came to Beaufort to explore the area as a possible destination to live during our harsh winter months up north. I loved my visit here!! Since I was dining solo, I asked if I could sit on the porch overlooking the marsh and the shrimp boats. It was a lovely setting to watch the sunset. My server, Carrie was awesome. She recommended the Fried Green Tomatoes and a small portion of the Sunset Jumbo Shrimp with vegetables over pasta. Everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend dining at the Dockside in Port Royal. Thanks for a memorable last supper in South Carolina. Jan Grady

We were disappointed, to be honest. For the money I expected the food to be much better. My husband got a $28 platter and everything was pretty bland. The crab legs were not even remotely fresh, comparable to what I'd expect from an all you can eat Chinese food buffet. My pasta with a parmesan cream sauce and seafood was good, but not anything that exciting. Loved the casual atmosphere, the views, and very family friendly. But I would not go back for that price. We live in Hilton Head and we can get far better seafood for that price anytime we want.

It has been a long time since my last visit, but everything was just as I remembered it. My Sunset Shrimp served over pasta was delicious. My wife enjoyed her shrimp and grits as well. The staff was prompt and friendly. I will definitely make a return engagement on my next trip to Beaufort!

Fantastic out of the way place where everything from the cornbread to app to main course was amazing. Great views and amazing food will return but trust your gps

Only wish they were open for lunch! We came off the water (kayak trip) & had to wait 45 minutes for their 4:30pm open, but always worth it. Just across the tracks (literally) & right on the docks, seafood doesn't get any fresher! We had the jalapeño stuffed shrimp appetizer (delicious!!) then shared the blackened grouper & shrimp in Cajun cream sauce (more like cream gravy, but still tasty) & frog more stew. The grouper & shrimp were fresh, tender & delicious. And the cornbread is remarkable! (Joe had seconds which they graciously brought). The ranch salad dressing tastes homemade - real buttermilk. The atmosphere is casual & the service friendly. The seafood market is right next door. It's not the fanciest restaurant around, but the seafood doesn't get any fresher! We love eating here!!

The oysters Rockefeller here comes with cheese. I'm used to them without so it was a shocker. Still yummy though.

Food and service was good. Arrived at 5:30 an didn't have to wait. Ordered coconut shrimp appetizer. Paid $8.95 for 5 shrimp. Not as good as Red Lobster coconut shrimp. My husband ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter for $19.95. He enjoyed it.

Awesome food awesome service and great surroundings. During our short stay we ate there twice! Worth the wait and hanging around outside is a pleasant way to pass the wait time. Although don't sit next to the speaker system they use to let you know your table is ready. Haha. The servers are happy and a pleasure to talk with. They represent the company well.

I wish there was a 4.5 Star rating! So close to 5. Five guys on a drive and took a wrong turn and ended up in Port Royal and stumbled on 11th Street Dockside but they were closed at lunchtime but after hearing from some locals that it is worth it to come back for dinner, we did! We got there early and lucky that we did, the place filled up fast. We had a great server who was attentive and fun. I got the "Frogmore Stew" which is basically a Low Country Boil. A big bowl of steamed, shrimp, potatoes, sausage and corn all seasoned with Old Bay. It was excellent and filling. All the other guys seemed to like what they got too. The setting is great, like a painting. Shrimp boats with marsh grass against a colorful sunset.

I eat here a lot and have never had a bad meal. It's a great spot on the water. My favorite is the buffalo oysters, they are a must have. Ask for Jared, he's a great waiter, entertaining, not to mention hot.

Awesome food. Have to get the steamer plate. So good. Also fried green tomatoes, and the raw oysters. Also the fact that u have to drive down a small side street and neighborhood. Also look out for the ship that starred as Jenny the boat from Forrest Gump. Lieutenant Dan....

Finally tried 11th Street Dockside after coming down to the Beaufort area for almost 20 years. What took me so long!!!! Excellent, in every way. Super friendly staff, wicked fresh seafood and great setting. I had the classic fried seafood combo; flounder, shrimp and onion rings. Flounder was as fresh as it gets, great size portion and done perfectly. Low country shrimp...enough said and monster onion loaf. All done in light cornmeal fry batter, not beer batter. They start with these insanely good corn hush puppies and a cinnamon butter. Probably insanely busy in summer, but best authentic seafood in the Beaufort area.

After having been to Dockside a couple of times, I declare this place BEST SEAFOOD OF MY LIFE. I'm not a seafood girl, and when my mouth waters just thinking about the fried flounder, then it's good. The hush puppies are amazing - fresh and homemade - you can't go wrong there. Salads were awesome with a delicious ranch dressing. Hubby says the crab cakes are fantastic. The service was great and the atmosphere relaxed. No other place compares! We may make the 2+ hour drive to eat there again... and again... and again. It's THAT good.

Had dinner here with another couple in Oct. 2012. The view of the water and the fishing boats was picture worthy. They start with bread and cornbread, which when accompanied with Fat Tire draft was enough for a meal. We ordered the hush puppies for an appetizer, and oh my goodness, are we glad we did. The taste and texture was unlike anything we had ever tried, mighty good!!! My friend had the Shrimp and Grits, which he was kind enough to let us taste. Truly these are amazing, using grit cakes which adds a nice texture, and with a sauce covering that was fabulous. This dish will take us all back to 11th Street Dockside again before we leave Hilton Head. My wife had the special, a huge crab stuffed lobster and coconut shrimp, corn on the cob, and veggies. Simply amazing. My friend's wife and I had the crab stuffed flounder, which we both highly recommend. The waitress was very efficient and we never lacked for attention. I never give 5 star reviews and I wish I could find a negative About this place, but I just can't. Incredible,we'll be back.

Just get the scored flounder. That's the best thing on the menu.

Although I was questioning the drive out here, this restaurant was way worth it. Right on the water (with tug boats docked in the back), you could take a walk along the pier. We were a big group and split some great appetizers: fried, green tomatoes, fried calamari, and fried onion strings. Hey, we were in the south, so it's gotta be fried!!!! They also brought out bread that consisted of a soft foccacia bread and heavenly, buttery, fall apart in your hands corn bread. God, I can eat ungodly amounts of corn bread. For dinner, I ordered the blackened salmon with either shrimp or scallops on top. It came with grilled veggies on the side and the whole plate was delicious. The service was excellent, too, I was very happy. Overall, great meal. The prices were on the higher end but the seafood was very good and well worth it.

  • Chuck G.

Awesome food. We have been in Beaufort 2 nights. Loved the food and service so much we went back the second night in a row. Had the special one night and the best shrimp and grits I've ever had the other. My wife had the crab cakes both nights. A must if you are in the area.

  • Bill P.

This restaurant is accurately named. The restaurant is right at the water's edge where the fishing boats are docked. The restaurant is at one end of the building and the seafood market is at the other end. They offer a choice of indoor or outdoor seating-actually a glass enclosed porch. I had the broiled seafood platter which included scallops, shrimp, fish, and crab cake. A baked potato came with it. The seafood was broiled in butter topped with some breadcrumbs. They have a tasty vidalia onion coleslaw. The cornbread and herb bread served with the meals were fresh baked. We also enjoyed an order of hush puppies that were hot, crispy and served with a cinnamon butter.

Great atmosphere, average food, big price tag. Drinks were completely over priced and hardly had any liquor. Tourist trap. Don't be a tourist. Pack a sandwich, a bottle of tequila and go to the beach. Save your $

We went here in August and had a great time. We had a steamed shrimp appetizer and the crab stuffed mushrooms which were full of crab, cheesy, and oily, which is just how I like them. Fresh local off the boat steamed shrimp speaks for itself. No complaints there! My husband had the broiled seafood platter and he said it was good which means really good. I had the sunset shrimp which was also very good. My only complaint about it was that the veggies were not sautéed to my liking, in fact they were barely warm with no caramelization whatsoever. I mentioned to the server and she said basically that happens sometimes and left it at that. The shrimp in the dish was good but overall there was little flavor in it. Aside from that, the meal was excellent and enough to share with our child. The Southern Escape cocktail was also very good.

  • Jeff K.

Crab cake app was great. Grilled scallops were perfect, service was fast and friendly and prices very fair. We sat on the enclosed porch area, view was great with the sun setting and the shrimp boats filling the docks. We'll be back for sure.

  • John H.

Best seafood in Beaufort. Call ahead for a spot in line. No reservations. The streamer pots are fantastic. Crab legs in August were excellent. They were a little generous with the seasoning powder but the food was fresh and well prepared. Ask for a table with a view. Will definitely be my staple for future Beaufort visits.

  • Royal M.

This place was highly recommended by several people in the area. Maybe it is the best that Beaufort has to offer. If that's the case someone should open a Seafood Restaurant! The wait staff was pushy..."hurry and order hurry and make up your mind we are getting busy" Not the way I want to start my dining experience. Arrived early with no waiting and wanted to enjoy my meal without feeling like I was in a fast food place. Started with an appitizer which was ok but not special. Left without ordering anything else due to constant arguing with waitress about why I should hurry. A town with the reputation of Beaufort could do much better!!! Don't care to return. Had great food at a little bar and grill on the main drag.

This place is great. Funny though, could not find it on yelp on my cell until I was inside the restaurant telling the waitress she needs to ask them to get on Yelp. Then I looked again and there were 2 listings. Hmm, very odd. The food was great! My 4 year old bought a kids meal but actually did not want it and nibbled off everyone elses plate. Large portions, really should not have ordered her a meal with as much as we all had. They need to serve more hush puppies on all dishes. I did not get any and my company ate all of there's. I'll be back next visit. Yelp please fix the double entry listing and missing business from the cell phone search. Thanks

Hidden down by the water for tourists a secret worth finding. It's rustic indoors... loud but welcoming. During warmer months there is an incredible patio that over looks the water. Fun drinks can start the night out the right way. I had the special item that night which was a red curry dish on top of white rice. The seafood was plentiful and fresh. My colleague had the stuffed flounder with pasta. The smell was amazing. Courses are large and full... service was excellent... decor was fun yet casual. A must hit when you visit Beaufort.

What more can I say but wow! I'm from Seattle, so I KNOW my seafood. This place does it right. No frills, just great straight forward seafood. I had the special dish, which was a pan seared grouper served over stone ground cheddar grits with a cajun creamy shrimp sauce over the top. If that doesn't get you excited, go get you a gas station hotdog. My wife went with the blackened salmon, which was also amazing. I'm a huge fan, can't wait to come back!

  • Jesse C.

All I can say is wow! So if u don't know, the lowcountry is known for it's great seafood. Eleventh street dockside should be known as the place to enjoy all that low country has to offer in regards to seafood. the hushpuppies are perfect and the sweet cinnamon sugar butter that comes with it is oh so wonderful! And if you've never tried shrimp and grits, this is the place to do it!...don't knock it till you try it.

Awesome seafood place, kind of off the beaten path. We stayed in Beaufort at the Rhett House Inn, who IS able to make a reservation for their guests despite the general "no reservations" policy. Arrived, sat down promptly, and waited a little bit for service. However, once our waiter Jared arrived, he was awesome. Got us drinks quickly (the Red Berry Lemonade was a big hit with my wife). The food was stellar. My wife had crab-topped grouper, I had shrimp and grits. Both of us devoured the main entrees and picked at the sides, simply because we were full after eating such a delicious, big portion of seafood. The environment is way more casual than anticipated, particularly given the prices on the menu, but the food IS worth it.

We discovered Dockside about 3 years ago and almost always bring house guests here for dinner. My personal favorite is the swordfish. It has never not been good until tonight. I was in a party of 10. I ordered the swordfish and when all the food came out, mine was the only one to not come with the others. Once everyone had their food, mine followed. The swordfish was not hot and when I put some butter on it, it never did melt. I ate about 1/3 of it then finished the (delicious) veggies and (the also) lukewarm potatoe. I never like their baked potatoes that much so that wasn't a disappointment. By the time I even thought to send the fish back, my group was needing to finish up to make a concert so I didn't bother. But I did mention to the server that it was cold and pointed out that the butter didn't even melt. She sis, "oh I'm so sorry" and took my plate. Then promptly brought our check. I didn't expect a free meal but the "excellent restaurant" thing to do would have been to reduce the price or offer me dessert or SOMETHING. But NOTHING. I am very disappointed in Dockside for the first time ever. What's going on there?

This is a hidden gem! Great seafood and steaks! It is hidden in Port Royal with a great view of the water. The restaurant is full of character, very rustic. The service was friendly and fast. The menu did not have exactly what I wanted, but the waitress said we could put together anything we wanted, no problem. My scallops were excellent, and the steak melted in my mouth. The crab cakes were different from what we were used to having. We are familiar with Maryland Style crab cakes. These were more like a crab imperial (but still very good). The she crab soup was also different, as we were used to Maryland crab soup. This was a sweeter, cream based soup with a touch of sherry in it. Again, it was very good, just a southern style of preparation versus the Maryland styles we were used to having. We were so happy that we found this place. Everyone enjoyed the meal a great deal. I will come here again if we are ever in the Port Royal area (we are from Ohio).

My favorite seafood restaurant in the Beaufort area, and clearly I am not alone since it's always packed. I've been frequenting Dockside for well over a decade and love it's ambiance being right on the water with lots of shrimping boats right outside. The ambiance inside is perfect as well, and the food is always amazing. I highly recommend the crabmeat stuffed flounder. Yum! And their she-crab soup is to die for.

Great location to watch the sunset across from Parris Island. Seafood was good. The best corn bread I've ever had! Not easy to find so be sure to use your GPS.

    (4)
  • Kathleen M.

The Dockside is solid. Fantastic local fish and shellfish. Comfy but not dumpy decor, highlighted by the absolutely gorgeous view. Plan your dinner around the sunset, for sure. It can easily get crowded and there's often a wait during the summer, but you can amuse yourself by checking out the local boats. Definitely one of the better casual options in the Beaufort area.

  • RB H.

What a great waterfront restaurant with very good/fresh seafood. The she-crab soup and crab cakes were awesome. Very friendly and good service as well. Only downside was we had to wait an hour for a table, but I definitely think it was worth it. If you're in Beaufort, this place is a must!!

Great spot, come early if you don't want to wait. I have been very pleased with everything I have ever ordered here and the waitstaff is always very pleasant and helpful.

Out of all the places to eat in Beaufort I would say this is one of the best places to eat. Its one of those places you go to when you are craving really good seafood! The place itself has a great atmosphere and they even have a patio that is by the water, great to go to when its nice time, beautiful! On busy days you can order a drink from the bar while you are waiting! The decorations around the restaraunt are nice as well. The cornbread is really delicous! Go check it out!!!!!!!!!!

  • Abigail M.

This place was good because it was fresh, simply prepared seafood. When you've been at the beach all day, you're not in the mood to eat at some stuffy seafood restaurant. Dockside was casual, comfortable, and overall good food. Make sure you get shrimp! That is one the local catches, so it should be good. Be prepared to wait if dining here on the weekend, but there is plenty of room outside to enjoy a beer or two while waiting.

My wife and I love this seafood restaurant Located in Port Royal,SC. First thing you must know is that it opens for business at 4:30pm ,and believe me if your not there by at least 4:35 the line to get in has already formed at the entrance. The decor is typical seafood restaurant but they are located on Battery Creek with a view of Paris Island in the near distance. You well see the active fleet of shrimp and fishing boats tied up at the dock there,so you know the food your getting is fresh. I love their stuffed flounder with crab meat ,it is cooked to perfection, nice side salad, the best corn on the cob ever. The place is big ,but it does fill up quickly.

I won't go back. It's so not worth the long underestimated wait time. I was told we would have a 30 minute wait but we ended up waiting 45 minutes. The dining room was dirty and the food was mediocre at best.

    (1)
  • Audrey B.

OK I don't get it. Went by the rave reviews and had the fried flounder and the boiled , steamed shrimp. Totally tasteless. Maybe we didn't order the right things but they said the shrimp were locally caught.

    (2)
  • William F.

Good food and large portions at reasonable prices. The hushpuppies were highly recommended and they are good but they are very sweet...they might be better as dessert with ice cream. We had scallops, shrimp and oysters prepared a few different ways and all were delicious not only at the restaurant but in po'boy sandwiches the next day. The location is great. If you can, get a seat by the window and watch the sunset. It lives up to the recommendations of fellow Yelpers.

This place has its ups and downs. Right now it is up! Straight forward seafood, fried shrimp and flounder for me have been great the last couple of visits back to Beaufort.

  • Tommy P.

In town on business and wanted a local seafood place to take a customer. Boy what a wonderful choice. We started with a dozen oysters each. The oysters were fresh and delicious! Both of us chose the Dockside dinner. This was a wonderful serving of fried shrimp, broiled scallops, crab legs, a lobster tail, baked potato, and corn on the cob. Each of the selections were perfectly cooked and the taste was out of this world! The service was great and the building was beautiful with really nice decorations. Don't miss this restaurant if you are in this area. You will not be disappointed.

Well worth the wait! We arrived late on Saturday night, we were told we would have a 45 minute wait, you can order a drink and sit outside by the dock (how much more relaxing can you get??). Our wait ONLY turned out to be 30 minutes. The waitress was efficient and friendly. The food was BEYOND amazing. I got the shrimp and oysters--I am still drooling over the super yumminess of the food. The beer is super cheap too. The food was fresh and the ambiance was amazing. Stop here, you won't regret it!

If you come to the Beaufort SC area and don't eat here you are missing out! This is by far the best seafood place in the entire area. I've eaten here about 4 times and each time the food has been amazing.

  • Marquesa O.

This is really the go-to restaurant for anyone visiting Beaufort. It's right on the water and a great family restaurant but is best described as a PHENOMENAL seafood restaurant. Make sure if you plan on going on a weekend (especially during summer months) that you show up around 4-4:15 because they do not take reservations and tables go fast. They open up at 4:30. I highly recommend the oysters rockefeller as an appetizer. I can't say enough about the quality of the seafood here. The Lowcountry is known for its shrimp and it would almost be a crime not to have some at Dockside. The portions are pretty large here so prepare to unbutton those pants after your meal!

  • Joey H.

This was my second sitting at this wonderful restaurant. The first time was by far so much better that my visit today. To warn you, I will be reviewing my most recent meal. So far, I enjoy the scenery because it overlooks the waterfront. If you've been to Beaufort, you'll know that the view is ok, but at sunset, the overlook is awesome. As for the food, I decided to order the Half and Half of Flounder and Shrimp. It was ok. There was no significant taste to either meal, but I ate what was in front of me. The side of bread rolls were tasty and delicious. I'm giving 4 stars because my 1st visit was excellent, yet the dull second meal. Either way, if you're in the neighborhood or just passing by, make the time to check this place out.

Eleventh Sreet Dockside was delicious and I would travel back to Beaufort again just to eat here. I ordered the special, Lobster stuffed with crab meat topped with broiled scallops and shrimp. It was wonderful and the lobster was much larger than I had expected. My dad had the grouper which he said was fantastic. My mother who doesn't care for seafood ordered the ribs and said they were good. The hush puppies were the best I have ever tasted so don't skip a basket of those. What was best about the restuarant was location. Right on the intercoastal with beautiful views and pink sky sunsets! Dinner entrees were between $15-$28.

  • X D.

My favorite was the fried green tomatoes. Best I've ever had. The clam chowder soup was ok, had better. The seafood was fresh and on the larger scale for size. The atmosphere was great, mostly military with the Marine base a few miles away. Our server was awesome, very friendly and helpful while dealing with a party of 14.

A great seafood place; not a tourist trap. About a 45-minute drive from Hilton Head Island, but worth the effort. Open only for dinner (4:30 pm to 10:00 pm). Our favorite place for seafood with a water view in Beaufort County. Reasonable prices, lots of choices (including beef, chicken, and ribs), and good service. Try the She Crab Soup, the Hushpuppies, the Steamed Oysters, the Seafood Pasta, and the Grouper Daufuskie (my favorite). Then, too finish it off, Key Lime Pie. Add this to your list of musts.

In the mood for good seafood and you have some cash to spend? This place is it. Go right before sundown and get a table close to the water so you can get a beautiful sunset dinner over the marsh. I got the steam pot which included half a lobster, crab legs, oysters, and shrimp. They give you all the tools, but the oysters were a bit too much work for me (tasted great, but i could've done without the work). Also has she crab soup. First time trying she crab soup and it was rich and awsome. You could also share one among the table and just use it as dipping sauce. Also had hush puppies (so good i almost cried) and fried green tomatoes. Everything tasted excellent. My coworker had a fish that was stuffed with crab which she was also gushing about. Not bad for our first night in Beaufort. The place was in the high teens /tweenties type of eating but worth it. For those new to the area, you'll turn on Eleventh, it'll be kinda weird cause you'll go down a couple of blocks through residential and wonder if you're headed in the right direction, but then it opens up into a clearing with Dock Side and a place where you can buy fresh seafood (just in case you feel like trying to mimick your fave Dock Side food).

Husband and my favorite seafood restaurant when visiting the Beaufort area. Food has always been fresh and well cooked. Fried oysters are huge, and not over-battered or greasy. Service has always been courteous and prompt. Atmosphere is casual. Pity they don't take reservations, as it gets quite busy on weekends.

    (5)
  • Michael H.

So awesome! LOTS of local people eating there, which made for a great atmosphere. Food was really good and a very reasonable price. Nice view and surroundings (working-class beauty as seen elsewhere in the area.) Great service. Worth moving to the SC low country for!

  • Mike L.

Fantastic - thanks Yelppers you didn't let us down. The food was fresh and fast. Amazing portion sizes with enough to take home (especially after that must have cornbread and hush puppies)! I had the blackened salmon - I really wanted the scallops too and was thrilled this dish offered a little (ok, a lot) of both! My wife had the seafood pasta. She's not a shrimp fan but they easily swapped out the shrimp for double crab. The kids loved the chowder. And really importantly the service was stellar. Especially after our kids spilled their water 3 times. Seriously, you guys got it going on. I also watched the hostess deal with some impatient and demanding people. Service with a smile. A true pro.

I can't say enough about the food here. We started with the Ahi Tuna, which was some of the best that I've had in years. Next up was the Surf and Turf and the Broiled Seafood Platter. The steak was incredible. It was a very nice cut and very tender. The Cajun shrimp were good, but were pretty much zero on the Cajun spices. We opted for the Cajun rice instead instead of a backed potato, and it was a great choice! The Cajun rice is wonderful. The Broiled Seafood platter was amazing. The scallops were great and the shrimp was wonderful. The crab cake I could have done without, but it was good. The flounder was good, but could have been a bit spicier for my taste. Our server had very little personality, but was good at what she did. We noticed that all of the other servers were smiling and talking with their guests. Ours was nice, but there were no smiles or laughter. I even told her that it was my girlfriend's birthday, and she just looked at my girlfriend and looked away. She didn't say "Happy Birthday". We had to track her down for drink refills. All in all, it was a great night and a great meal. I would go there again today if I could.

Dockside closed because of a fire in the warehouse it was not seized. Dockside 2 is on Ladys Island and still on the water. Owners decided not to reopen 11th street..

This restaurant is quite old school, which I expected since my 94 year old great aunt took us there. All the food was exactly what you expect from an old school seafood restaurant, down to the campy wood chairs that fit the theme perfectly. The she crab soup is quite rich, so only order a cup. The fried shrimp are so lightly battered, the shrimp themselves are huge! I enjoyed the Dockside Dinner, which was a massive platter of seafood, enough for two people. This place was packed both nights we went, so get there early. If fried green tomatoes are available, be sure to order them. They were prepared with a black bean and corn salsa, which was lovely. Great views out to the water and shrimp boats, there is a great dock out front for picture taking.

It's closed and sign says 'Seized'. We are from Los Angeles and came here with family, Oops! On to another seafood place.

I first discovered this place while researching online for a great seafood restaurant to visit while an old friend was in town. We have been back a few times now and on our latest visit we brought my mom with us who was visiting from California. Now, my mom is a simple woman, but she did not hesitate to tell me that it was the best meal she has ever had. Both her and my brother and I all got the steamed seafood platter and we were all beyond satisfied.

My friend invited me to dinner. I didn't want anything too pricey. I wanted casual with great seafood and something of a view. The shrimp boats were docked outside. My friend LOVED his shrimp and grits and I LOVED my Cajun catfish with this amazing Thai?? Broccoli and a baked potato! Perfect!

I really enjoyed this very down to earth fish restaurant. You definitely get your money's worth. The staff were super friendly when we first came in and our waitress was very attentive to our table needs throughout the evening. We were seated at a window overlooking the little dock which was a great view. There were a bunch of fishing boats sitting out and we spent much of our dinner conversing over the intricate parts of a fishing boat. We started off with appetizers. For the first place to visit while being down south we decided to go for fried green tomatoes and hush puppies. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, covered in bacon and some kind of creaming dressing and salsa. The hush puppies ended up being too sweet as an appetizer so we ended up taking them home as a dessert. I got the fried fish mix- scallops and oysters and my bf got some friend local fish. The sides were good but drenched in too much oil and butter but the fried fish on both our dishes were amazing and fresh. When we got home and finally had enough space in our stomach we had the hush puppies with maple butter and it was amazing! Just mostly want to go back for those.

We were clueless about where to eat in Beaufort, so we turned to Yelp! And wow! The great reviews were right on! The place is layed back, extremely fair prices and the restaurant was full of locals; a great sign! We had the Dockside Dinner: lobster, scallops, crab legs, shrimp, etc. All great. We also had the she-crab soup and shrimp 'n grits. We can't recommend it more highly.

Went by yesterday, was closed & part of the building completely burned, appeared to have happened in the past 1-2 days. No seafood for us.

From start to finish the food and service was amazing. Easily the best seafood I've had since arriving to Hilton Head and Fripp Island a week ago. The server was incredibly personable and had a great sense of humor. My wife had the sunset shrimp which was awesome and I had the crab meat stuffed flounder. The crab meat stuffing was full of crab, little filler. The flounder was cooked to perfection and the grilled shrimp and scallops that accompanied it were incredible and cooked to perfect temp. Even the vegetables were very tasty. The corn bread that preceded the meal was awesome. Nothing but good things to say about this place and will be back for sure.

A great dining experience. The food was expertly prepared, and the atmosphere was fantastic....perfectly fitting the locale. The service was very good as well. The only negative might be the lost opportunity in providing a bit of additional spice with the Sunset Shrimp. However, that is hardly a significant issue as it applies to the overall experience. We will be back.

Went into Dockside for the first time this evening. After a long day at work and going for a run, cooking was not an option. We ended up in Port Royal at the 11th Street Dockside. Sat down at the bar. The bartender, Michael, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We tend to favor sharing appetizers and sides over ordering entrees, so he guided us on his favorites. We ended up getting the jalapeño shrimp, oysters Rockefeller, shrimp and grits (in a smaller portion), and a baked potato. We also ordered a few drinks. The jalapeño shrimp was interesting- they butterfly the shrimp, put cream cheese and jalapeño inside, then deep fry it. Crunchy outside and delicious inside- not too spicy. I am an oyster fanatic and have had oysters Rockefeller all over- these were great. Simple, creamy and delicious. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I have had here- great texture and flavor. We will definitely be back to try the fried green tomatoes and would love to sit out on the porch in the springtime.

Hands down this is the best place to endulge in some fried yummy goodness. From their corn bread to their breadsticks to their fried flounder....my mouth is just watering from thinking about our dinner last week. I highly recommend their fried scallops, fried flounder and mashed potatoes. You will NOT be disappointed!

First time here and will not be the last! Amazing hush puppies and fried green tomatoes for starters followed by the best corn bread I have had in a long time. Service was wonderful, our server Shannon was the best. Professional and super friendly. The grilled shrimp and sautéed scallops very tasty! Give this place a go! Well worth the trip off our beaten path.

Highly recommend the crispy flounder with Asian sauce!! Read reviews about it being good and I think the whole table was glad my mom got it considering everyone was raving about it. Cornbread was fantastic. So we're the vegetables on the side for my scallops

Everything served to our party was delicious! They started us with complimentary breadsticks and cornbread, both were fresh & flavorful. Entrees were delightful. I had the captain's platter, which was shrimp, scallops, oysters & flounder; the flounder was wonderful, almost buttery in texture. Everything else at the table was equally good. Service was above average, our server (Samantha) was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. Prices were fair; a little more than I might've spent for a regular family night out but this was a special occasion and it was certainly worth it. Next time we are in the area, I will likely come back and would recommend it without reservation.

We had a craving for seafood on New Years' Day, and stopped in. This place was amazing! We had the Lowcountry Boil, Shrimp Pasta, Lobster Bisque, Fried Shrimp, Lobster and Crab Legs. Everyone ended up sharing a little of everything, except my son who just couldn't get enough of the crab! Staff were friendly and fast, and food was very tasty and reasonably priced. If you have a large party or little kids, sit inside - the chairs on the patio can be a bit wobbly. The restaurant is at the end of a residential street. You might think you are lost, but keep driving!

Jalapeño stuffed shrimp appetizer and cornbread was good. On the other hand service was the worst I have ever experienced. We were only a group of two, got our appetizer within 15 minutes of ordering. It took over an hour just for our meal to come out then add that to the 2 hour wait time just to get seated. Food looked dry, captains platter was skimp. It was so bad we didn't bother staying to eat. Only go here with low expectation. Very disappointing.

This was a pretty decent place. Sounds like it might be mostly locals that go here but I enjoyed it. Had the New York Strip Sirloin and it was very tasty. In my experience, fish places have THE BEST steaks and this one was pretty good too. A teensy bit pricey but you ARE on the water. The steak came with a baked potato and veggies. Overall it was good but not super memorable. Did not blow me away but I would go back.

All I can say is TRUST me you won't be disappointed. Service was Awesome. The Food is reasonably priced. We are from Las Vegas and would have to pay twice what they charge for a similar meal in Vegas and not near as Good. We ate there twice during our stay. Everything we ordered was amazing. The Hush puppies Crab cakes Crab stuffed Flounder The Clam Chowder The Fried Green Tomatoes all the best I've ever had.

Definitely delicious all around! Best hush puppies ever and the crab steam pot is enough for 2 to share! The only Eh thing is the service. They are nice but don't seem to be excited to be there. They all seem like they are just waiting for their shift to end. :( Thank goodness the food is great and we love to sit in the patio! Nice view of the boats and water.

Ok everyone, you see three stars and say "what's up". I'm going against the grain here. Our first night in Port Royal and we had rented a unit within walking distance of Dockside thinking we would be here every other day eating shrimp and other seafood delights while watching the shrimp boats. The scene is very picturesque and looks like a clasic low country picture. However when you walk in the decor is dated and needs to be spruceed up. Fish nets hanging, kind of Red Lobster. Old wooden tables, maybe I am expecting too much being from the big city. Ordered drinks, nope not a good start. All the watresses in short shorts. Maybe I'm getting old. Wife ordered crab stuffed flounder and I ordered fried shrimp. The crab in the stuffing was plentiful but not seasoned and the sauce on top was a white kind of gravy. Just did not work. I always get fried shrimp to test a seafood reastaurant. If you can't do that superb in the low country.... The shrimp were plentiful but on the small side. Taste was OK nothing special. I have since learned that the locals are having a hard time with the size of the local shrimp. I waited a few days before this review to see what else Beaufort had to offer, for straight seafood, Dockside is the best. I have been surprised that the area does not support a more top notch seafood place. Dockside can't compete with the Hilton Head seafood reastaurants I have enjoyed. I wil say that everyone was very friendly and there is a laid back local feel. We were not rushed and I doubt they are ever super busy. In fact we have found that none of the reastaurants in Beaufort have been super busy. Unlike Hilton Head with the one hour waits this time of year. Overall OK experience, I just can't give it four stars.

Delicious!!! First time to Port Royal and glad we stopped here for dinner. Lobster tail, crab legs, fried shrimp, and scallops along with baked potato and corn on the cob....OH MY!!! Doesn't get better than this--air conditioned glasses in porch overlooking the water and shrimp boats. Don't miss this place!!!

Always impressed with this restaurant. The Decour is old fisherman shanty but the food is amazing. Please don't think you will get the same quality food at the ladies Island location. This restaurant does not except reservations it is first come first serve. They do accommodate large parties. We have never had a bad experience here and the seafood is local. One thing I did notice that I did not like is that the staff kept the ice scoop in the ice machine. That is a health code violation. They do have some issues with their plumbing, the ladies room started to flood. It probably has something to do with the age of the restaurant. Other than that, the service is always exceptional and the food is always amazing.

I've been to Dockside a few times, and always had pretty decent service and food. The prices are a little high, and you can sometimes wait quite a long time for a table. The seafood is good, nothing amazing, but what you really go here for is the atmosphere and the views. It's one of the only "waterfront" restaurants in that area, and so if you want to sit outside by the water, this is your place.

It's New Year's Eve and our daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons just moved into base housing at Parris Island, SC - - boxes everywhere - - some kind of celebration. After debating what to eat, we decided to take out seafood and 13th Street was the winner. And boy was it a winner. We ordered a spread of seafood platter, stuffed shrimp, chowder and everything was fantastic - - highly recommended. By the way when we picked up the food we were not dress in anything by dirty jeans and sweat pants - - Happy New Years!!! Enjoy.

Charming Setting - Great Seafood Fare Truly a dockside setting with the shrimp boats just outside the windows of the closed-in porch. Cornbread and hushpuppies as only the South can make: coarse texture, buttery, fall-apart on your fork or in your fingers. I don't have it in my notes, but I think the cornbread had corn in it which added another whole layer of flavor and texture. If I've recollected incorrectly, I apologize. The shrimp and grits were so hearty, so rich: truly exquisite. My companion was well pleased with his broiled dinner featuring three different fresh seafoods. The waiter should pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. His light, casual demeanor contributed to a most enjoyable evening. Hey, Jared - you say the closest DQ is where? Date of Visit: 18Mar14

It use to be one definitely worth to try restaurant. But it was so bad when we had dinner last week.5 of us none was happy with their meals. It seemed like they changed the chef. Fried flounder and oyster used to be the best we ever had, now they are one of the worst . It is just another ordinary seafood place now.

  • B J.

The seafood steampot was most enjoyable. One suggestion is to please open the oysters on the plate for easier access. Ioved the fried green tomatoes, which was made to resemble a salad with crumbled blue cheese , scallions, tomatoes, ect on the plate. The complementary corn bread was a hit. My family also enjoyed the corn on the Cobb and dirty rice. A nice amount of good food for the price. Will be going back.
